Mandolinist, violinist and percussionist extraordinaire, Joe Craven has performed alongside such legendary musicians
as Jerry Garcia, David Grisman, Stephane Grappelli and Mark O'Connor. He is a founding member of the acclaimed acoustic
fusion group, "Psychograss," with Mike Marshall, Darol Anger and Todd Phillips.
As a session musician Joe has performed on over 80 recordings – from Bonnie Raitt and Alison Krauss to the Turtle Island String Quartet to Grammy-nominated Spoken Word jazz poet Ken Nordine. On stage at Carnegie Hall, Joe's inventive percussion wizardry delighted fellow musicians Stephane Grapelli and YoYo Ma. A member of the beloved Garcia/Grisman Band, this year marks Joe's 7th year with the David Grisman Quintet.
Craven takes center stage on CAMPTOWN, his first solo album. He breathes new life into 14 classic fiddle tunes, each played in a unique global setting. This hour long journey across six continents is traditional music like you've never heard before. David Grisman calls Craven "the world's most versatile sideman ... it's high time we get to hear out front!"
